As part of the Australian Curriculum and learning at Carbrook State School, students in Prep to Year 6 will undergo studies in Visual Arts through different mediums. Visual Arts will form part of the assessment for the Arts in Semester 2 and will be reported on as part of the Arts Curriculum in the end of semester school report.
This term, we have engaged the services of Ms Tania Davidson, Creative Director of Tania’s Arthouse Cleveland. Tania established an Art School in 2003 in Cleveland and has taught thousands of students over this time. Tania has studied illustration, travelled the world and completed a Bachelor in Visual Arts through QUT. Tania has joined forces with her husband and fellow artist Tim Davidson. Tim Davidson has a background in the Graphic Arts industry and has also studied illustration.
We are excited to welcome Tim and Tania to our school and for them to impart their creative eye, expertise, skills and knowledge with our Carbrook students. Tim and Tania Davidson will work with our students in our Artist in Residence Program for Term 3 engaging them in the following:
  • acrylic painting whereby students will learn to draw and paint on canvas (Prep to Year 6 students)
  • clay modelling whereby students will learn how to mix colours, create shapes and hand build a character in clay (Prep to Year 2)
  • charcoal drawing whereby students will learn to draw using charcoal  (Year 3 – 6)
The cost for students to participate in this program is $30. This cost will cover the expenses including Tania and Tim’s expert instruction, art supplies, brushes, paints, clay, papers and art frames. The final products that the students produce will be placed on displayed for our school Art Show in Term 3.  The students’ pieces of art will be sent home after the completion of the Art Show.
Unfortunately, children will not participate in our Artist in Residence Program if no payment has been made by Thursday 18 July 2019.
Lessons will commence in Week 2, Monday, 22 July 2019 and will transpire according to a set timetable.  The lessons will cease by Week 9 in Term 3, 2019.t
