BYO iPad program

Concept development

The BYO iPad program at Carbrook State School has come about from the successful eLearning agenda that our school has been on over the last few years.
Carbrook State School is a digitally rich school who values the importance of being digitally connected with our community. We offer our students the best possible learning experiences with digital devices. Students at Carbrook currently have access to a large number of digital devices to support their learning, including a 1 -1 computer lab, interactive whiteboards in every teaching space, iPads that are shared across the school and other digital devices. The iPads have proved to be a very useful tool to support student learning and will be the only platform allowed in the Carbrook State School BYO iPad Program.
With the concept of the BYO iPad program at Carbrook State School from 2015, we plan to impact student academic improvement, engagement, and attitude to learning as well as afford our students opportunities to further develop 21st century learning skills developing digital citizens for the future.
In 2012, every teacher was provided with a school owned iPad.
In 2013, all teachers and students have had opportunities to use iPads in their classrooms with a number of iPad KITs being made available. These included a number of iPads in each KIT that are securely stored and charged.
On Wednesday, 6 August, the idea of running the BYO iPad Program for 2015 was raised at the P and C meeting and their support was gained to move forward.
On Tuesday, 26th August 2015 in our resource centre, we hosted an information session for Year 4 parents and asked interested parents to access the school website to view the Carbrook SS iPad Program booklet and to complete the Student Participation Agreement for their child to be considered for a BYO iPad class.
